Testimonials

"GEDC is a little bit like an embassy of Canada in this now-focal area of our province's north... They are an impressive group; we were quite surprised to find that level of business advisory skills in such a remote place."

Regional and Ring of Fire Mining updates

Small business week is fast approaching and Greenstone Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) plans to host numerous events throughout the week targeting community members of all walks of life. The week will be highlighted by Peter Hinz with the Exploration and Mineral Development Ring of Fire Secretariat at the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines & Forestry. Peter will be updating Greenstone on current activities in the ‘Ring of Fire’ as well as the ‘who, what, where and how’ on exploration in the Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt. Joining Peter will be Andy Fyon, Director of the Ontario Geological Survey. From the Directors office some functions that are delivered or coordinated include the Geoscience program, Aboriginal engagement, relationship building and representation of OGS and Ontario interests at national and international meetings, committees or working groups. Aime Dimatteo the Director General of FedNor will also be visiting Greenstone to inform the public about the FedNor programs that affect the north. Aime was appointed Director General of FedNor, the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, on June 16, 2010. His primary role is to ensure that FedNor delivers on its mandate to create economic growth, diversification, job creation and sustainable communities in Northern Ontario. Join us at the French Club in Geraldton Thursday, October 20th at 6 pm to gain insight on the mineral sector taking place in our back yards and just to the north of Greenstone. All are welcome. GEDC fosters and encourages the start-up and operation of successful enterprise in all economic sectors within the Greenstone region. The Corporation is a community-based, non-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors.
