Mineral Development Initiative

Mission:

To compile and digitize existing data into useable formats.

To produce a fully functional 3D model based on available data.

To identify and devise methods to overcome limitations in the 3D modeling.

To identify new and unique methods for display and use of the models and data.

Value-added Opportunities identified:

GIS services

Mapping services

Data compilation and conversion services

Digitization services (not only the minerals sector but all sectors)

3D Modelling services

Advanced Virtual services

Historical data mining

Warehousing of digital information

Google Earth visualization services (tutorials available via google)

Marketing through various visual tools

Mining history:

There were 14 past producing gold mines in the Greenstone region operating between 1934

and 1968. While other gold belts have seen decades of new exploration and new mines, the Beardmore/Geraldton gold belt has been forgotten, until recently.

Today there is renewed interest in both the past producing gold mines as well as new

potential mines in the region.

GEDC and the GMDI

Eva/Summers Townships were selected as the project test site with the expectation of integrating both public and private data sets to develop a proper 3D geological model.

At the outset, the project data compilation began and drill log data was input into Datamine Studio for the Eva / Summers Townships.

GEDC utilized Datamine 3D studio to design and implement geological models of the past producing mines in the Greenstone region.  In addition, GEDC has identified small business opportunities through the implemention of additional technologies such as Virtual Reality and Google Earth.  These technologies will aid the mining and exploration companies in the region in further pursuing their projects.   Some of the value-added products developed through the GMDI can be found by clicking the link below.
