History/Historique

The Jellicoe Consolidated gold mine is an example of a small-scale gold producer.  It resulted from the amalgamation of Whitegorse Gold Mines, Ltd., and Jellicoe Gold Mining Company, Ltd., situated directly west of the Tombill and Bankfield properties on the eastern portion of the Lindsley Township.

Jellicoe Consolidated Gold Mines Limited was incorporated in 1936. Shaft sinking began in 1937. In 1938, the company suspended operations, and in 1939, the new company Jellicoe Mines Limited was incorporated and the production of gold was started. In its years of operation, 1939-1941, the mine produced a total 5,620 ounces of gold and 515 ounces of silver.

 

La mine d’or Jellicoe Consolidated est un exemple de producteur d’or à petite échelle. Elle était le résultat de l’amalgamation de Whitegorse Gold Mines, Ltd. et de Jellicoe Gold Mining Company, Ltd. situés directement à l’ouest des propriétés Tombill et Bankfield sur la portion est de la municipalité de Lindsley.

Jellicoe Consolidated Gold Mines Limited a été incorporé en 1936. Le creusage du puits débuta en 1937. En 1938, la compagnie a arrêté les opérations et, en 1939, la nouvelle compagnie Jellicoe Mines Limited a été incorporée et la production d’or a commencé. Pendant les années d’opération, 1939 – 1941, la mine a produit un total de 5 620 onces d’or et 515 onces d’argent.
