The Greenstone Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) fosters and encourages the start-up and operation of successful enterprise in all economic sectors within the Greenstone Region. We are a community-based, non-profit organization administered by a volunteer board of directors representative of the communities within the Greenstone Service area.

Health

The Geraldton District Hospital is a progressive health care organization committed to providing high quality services to all the residents of Greenstone and First Nations communities. 

 

It also includes a Long term Care wing, an air ambulance medical heliport, 24-hour Emergency department staffed with full-time emergency nurses, social work, registered dietitian, laboratory services and more

 

The Geraldton Medical Group is located immediately adjacent to the Geraldton District Hospital. 

The Centre collectively unifies the Geraldton Medical Group, the Public Health Unit, the Dentist Office, the Physiotherapy Outpatient Clinic, the Geraldton Diabetes Education Centre, Nutrition Services and the Community Care Access Centre.

 

The NorWest Community Health Centre is located in Longlac and provides primary health care and health promotion programs.  It is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care  and features family physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, counsellors, dieticians, nutrition workers, community health workers, early childcare educators, and support staff. 

 

The Nakina Clinic is staffed with a full-time, bilingual, registered nurse and a receptionist.  Currently, the Geraldton Medical Group physicians provide patient care in Nakina.  Within the same facility is the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response unit.

 

Medical services in Beardmore and Aroland First Nations are provided through their regional medical centre.
