The Greenstone Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) fosters and encourages the start-up and operation of successful enterprise in all economic sectors within the Greenstone Region. We are a community-based, non-profit organization administered by a volunteer board of directors representative of the communities within the Greenstone Service area.

Fitness & Sports

Karate is an excellent way to improve your life, and there are countless benefits to practicing this honored art.  Practicing martial arts helps teach self-defense, develope respect for yourself and for others, enhances physical fitness and increases your flexibility.

 

The communities of Longlac and Geraldton each have a Tsuruoka Karate Do Inc. club which currently has members ranging in ages from 5 to 68 years old.

The recreation department organizes events that vary from year to year such as exercise classes, aerobics for infant and parents, skating, line dancing and soccer clubs.

The Geraldton Pool is maintained by the Recreation Office, organizing swim lessons, private swim lessons, parent & tot programs, aquabics and play groups.

 

Communities are equipped with baseball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, hockey and curling rinks and weightrooms.  Recreational sports such as badminton and volleyball are organized during the evenings for adults to attend.
