The Greenstone Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) fosters and encourages the start-up and operation of successful enterprise in all economic sectors within the Greenstone Region. We are a community-based, non-profit organization administered by a volunteer board of directors representative of the communities within the Greenstone Service area.

Who can Apply?

 

GEDC can assist applicants who are interested in starting a new business or expanding their existing business.
Loans of up to $150,000 are available when financing from financial institutions are insufficient or declined.  The primary objective of GEDC financing is to invest in sound businesses that create and maintain sustainable employment in all economic sectors within the Greenstone services area.

 

How to Apply?

 

Contact our office for an appointment with the Business Development Officer (BDO), to assess your business idea and financial requirements. If you fit the criteria and decide to proceed, the BDO will provide you with a loan application package which includes your application form, personal net worth statement, and credit check authorization form.

 

Loan Application

 

At a minimum your package must include:

    • At least one refusal letter from a financial institutio
    • Business Loan Application
    • Personal Net Worth Statement
    • Personal and Business Credit Check Authorization
    • Copy of birth certificates and drivers licenses.
    • Business plan including projected cash flow
    • Business registration and/or Articles of Incorporation
       

Evaluation

 

The Business Development Officer analyzes your loan application package and presents it to our Volunteers Board of Directors. The decision is made by the Volunteer Board of Directors based on the strength of your business plan, your ability to repay, available security, and impact on job creation or maintenance.
